I guess this is pretty much a blog.

Metroid Prime 4 is finally out. Idk, I like it. It's not nearly as bad as people online would have you believe. Don't get me wrong, there's some glaring issues that I think could have been easy fixes. Mainly, replace the empty open-world desert with a smaller hub, and put an option to turn off hints (you know, like the other Prime games had). I also wish the game was less linear, but I guess it follows after Fusion, Prime 3, Other M, and Samus Returns. Dread is an outlier at this point.
I love some of the bosses in this game. Most of the Sylux fights are pretty sick and his theme is cool as hell. Actually, they nailed the soundtrack and presentation in general. I think Volt Forge is one of my new favorite Prime areas. Hard mode is actually kicking my ass. I'm not even sure I'll be able to beat it, some of the early enemies are deleting my health bar.
I don't think the fans would be as harsh on this game if it didn't take 8 years to develop and go through a complete reset. Game development times nowadays are just ridiculous in general. I remember the 5 year gap between GTA IV and V feeling like it took forever. Now games are taking entire console generations to come out. Wtf are we doing here?
Overall though, I liked it. I might put it on par with Prime 3. It just didn't have to take the Switch's entire lifespan to come out. Dread is still my GOAT.
Speaking of games, I've been recently thinking about how cool licensed soundtracks in gaming were back in the day. I blame a lot of my music taste on stuff I heard in games from the PS2 and PS3 eras.
Please bring back cringy-ass nu-metal that plays in the menus. I bet some of these games would be a legal nightmare to re-release nowadays.
The Tony Hawk games were the kings of this shit. Entire music tastes were made in these games.
I can't think of too many games that aren't yearly sports titles that do licensed music anymore. Maybe just Fortnite and Hi-Fi Rush off the top of my head?
Do yearly sports games even do it still? Idk, I don't play that shit, someone tell me in the nonexistent comment section below.

Happy Halloween! Don't really know what I'm going to do tonight. I'll probably just watch scary movies and play Resident Evil.
I watched the original japanese Ring trilogy leading up to Halloween, so that was neat. The first one is a classic, and I think I like it a bit more than the american version, which I also watched recently. The remake holds its own pretty well, but I think the japanese version is scarier just because it feels a bit more grounded, and less "Hollywood" if that makes sense. Like, the american version is trying really hard to be scary, with the sickly green filter, the more stereotypically dilapidated sets, and the more exaggerated grisly features on Samara compared to Sadako. The cursed tape itself seems more realistic in the original version too. It looks more like someone's fucked up home movies compared to the american version, which is more obviously staged, well lit, and less noisy.
All that being said, you can't go wrong with either movie.
Oh yeah, I was supposed to talk about the other movies too.
Ring 2 wasn't great. I was bored through most of it. I only remember really liking one scene from it. It also has one of the worst movie deaths I've ever seen. If you've watched it, you probably know which one I'm talking about.
Ring 0: Birthday was surprisingly good. I didn't really need more backstory on Sadako, but it worked really well to make her more of a tragic character, and I did end up feeling bad for her by the end of the movie.
Shouts out to the Towel Man. If I ever need a last minute Halloween costume, I know what I'm going to do.

I'm still trying to make Pillowfort a thing. I forgot there might be a waitlist to join (I've heard conflicting things about it), so I'll leave an invite link here to join immediately. Uh, this is the link for it.
And don't forget to follow me there!
I finally got to Act 3 in Silksong, and I'm taking a short break from it. Fuckin' amazing game so far. I wish the "final" boss went a bit longer though, she was really fun to fight. I think I like bullet-hell-ish bosses that have you dodging a bunch of projectiles.
Currently also playing:
I found this at a thrift store for 2 bucks and was surprised that there's an official patch that makes it run on modern systems. I kinda miss this era of PC gaming, we need more weird janky isometric goth games.
I'm playing a necromancer to have a spooky skeleton army.
Idk why they move around like that when you're idle.
I kinda wish I had this game as a kid, I think I would have been addicted to it. The core gameplay is a lot simpler than I was expecting, it's mostly just clicking on dudes until they're dead (and in my case, having my army of the undead do most of the work lmao).

I'm going to try to post to Pillowfort more consistently again. Bluesky's moderation is pissing me off lately. Follow me if you haven't!
I'm still working my way through Silksong. It's been a great game, but I'm a little burned out seeing all the requirements needed to reach Act 3. Overall, I think I like it more than Hollow Knight.
